Labourer robbed of money in central market

Mangaluru, July 9, 2015 : A labourer was robbed of Rs. 18,000 by two persons when he was purchasing clothes in the central market.

According to the Mangaluru North police, Ashok Basavanagouda Patil has been working a labourer in the fishing harbour here for the last four months.

On Tuesday evening, he came to the market to purchase clothes for his relatives in his home town in Vijayapura district.

He had kept Rs. 18,000 in his pocket and was carrying a bag. As he was walking down Roopavani Cinema, two persons blocked Mr. Patil.

While one held his neck, the other snatched his bag.

One of them then snatched the money from Mr. Patil’s pocket and also his gold bracelet.

As Mr. Patil screamed, the other persons scratched Mr. Patil’s chin with a blade and ran away.

Mr. Patil chased the two, but in vain.The police said they had clues about the culprits and a search was on.
