Construction workers protest at Thokkottu

Mangaluru, July 15, 2015 :  Construction workers staged  demonstration July 13,  protesting against the district administration’s move to ban sand extraction during the monsoon. They said the move would affect the livelihood of workers.

Holding the demonstration at Thokkottu under the banner of Karnataka State Building and Other Construction Workers Federation, the workers said the unilateral move of the administration to ban sand extraction was not a just one. CITU district secretary Sunil Kumar Bajal said the ban has not only affected the working class, but also the general public who were constructing houses and other buildings and the matters must be revisited immediately.
