Doctors, nurse assaulted after patient’s death

Mangaluru, Aug 18, 2015 :Family members of an 18-year-old man allegedly assaulted two resident doctors and a nurse and damaged furniture at the medical Intesive Care Unit of a private hospital in Mangaluru on Monday following the death of the man.

According to information reaching here, family members trooped into the medical ICU of Yenepoya Medical College after 18-year-old Faisal from Ullal died.

The family members rained blows on Jasir Ali and Vijosh, the two resident doctors in the ICU, and a nurse. They also damaged a few equipment and furniture there, said sources.

The police rushed to the spot as people started to gather in good numbers. The family members staged a demonstration seeking action for alleged negligence. The police officials were holding talks with the family members and trying to defuse the situation.

The treatment of patients at the ICU was affected following the incident, the sources added.
