Mangalore Today News Network

Mangaluru, September 17, 2015: As per reports, the Police commissioner has decided to base  the office of the ACP to Ullal.   An office had been built at a cost of nearly  Rs 60 lakhs in 2013 and was inaugurated by home minister K J George on Feb 12, 2014. This building was to house among other also the traffic ACP’s office.

Three police stations – Ullal, Konaje and Rural (Maroli) – are currently under the the assistant commissioner of police, city south subdivision.   Matters of Konaje and Ullal have to be carried to the ACP’s office, which is currently functioning from the Pandeshwar police station, for verification or signatures.

In the event of any major crime in Ullal and Konaje, the ACP has to go all the way southwards. Often on account of traffic snarls on either side of the Netravati river at Jeppinamogaru and Adamkudru, places like Thokkottu and Ullal are separated from the city.

This remedy by the commissioner is since Ullal has been considered a sensitive that needs close monitoring now, due to increase in crime.  With the unprecedented growth and rapid increase in population due to an influx of people a better  layout of police is vital at present.
