Udupi, Oct 21, 2015 :  It is stated that TP member Sathyanarayana Nayak said the national highway covering Molakalmuru area is posing problem to the people and also there was no communication between the highway authorities and the local governance and demanded that the width of national highway should be made clear.

Member Bhaskar complained that the works of the highway was at snail’s pace and the height of the divider was too high and resulted in accidents.  Executive Officer Rajendra Bekal said that the national highway authorities were not available for comments. There is scarcity of RTC (Road Transport Corporation) counters following which the public have to spend entire day to get documents.

Member Rama Kulal said that the government had decided to open additional 400 RTC counters in the State for which the tender process is over and the recommended list will be released shortly.   The restrictions over issuing permission to dig borewells and open wells was also discussed at the meet.

Member Devdas Hebbar said that the House should adopt a resolution against imposing limit as the coastal area comprises marginal land holders. The order copy should be sent to all gram panchayats so that the body would not raise objections while giving NOC (No Objection Certificate) to the farmers over digging borewells.

The members also expressed their dissatisfaction over the work related to the verification of voter list. Members complained that the BLOs appointed by the government are inadequate and are not properly carrying out the work.

Member Raghavendra Kanchan complained that the officials are least bothered about the completion of  Kota fish market, proposed to be built at the cost of Rs 75 lakh, which has remained incomplete even after the inauguration.

Works incomplete  :   50 per cent of the work worth Rs 40 lakh is pending. Fish are sold on streets,” he complained.

The EO to the query said that the Coastal Development Authority has taken up the work and assured that he will write to the authority and seek explanation.   Member Bharath Kumar Shetty demanded that the order re-instating the clerk of Kota Gram Panchayat who is under suspension be cancelled accusing that the clerk had committed fraud to a tune of Rs 3.80 lakh.    The EO, however clarified that the zilla panchayat CEO has taken the decision and the house cannot question the quasi-judicial authority.
