Mangaluru, Oct 27, 2015: According to a press release issued here, BARC, Health Safety and Environment Group former director and Raja Ramanna Fellow, Department of Atomic Energy H S Kushwaha will inaugurate 20th National symposium on radiation physics (NSRP- 20) at Mangala Auditorium, Mangalore University, Mangalagangothri from October 28 to 30. Mangalore University Centre for Advanced Research in Environmental Radioactivity (CARER) and Indian Society for Radiation Physics (ISRP) will organise the conference from October 28 at 10 am. Bangalore University former vice chancellor Prof K Siddappa will release the proceedings.
BARC, HSE and B Group former director Dr D V Gopinath will inaugurate ISRP website.
Mangalore University Vice Chancellor Prof K Byrappa will preside over the function.
NSRP-20 will be held on the topic "Radiation measurements: Challenges in lowering of detection limits". The scientific programme of the symposium includes invited talks and papers in the form of oral and poster presentations. The major scientific themes covered in NSRP- 20 are ’Environmental radioactivity and their transfer pathways’, ’carbon-14 and organically bound tritium measurements in environmental matrices’, ’radon and thoron dosimetry in environment and workplaces’, ’radiation protection in nuclear industry’, ’radiation dosimetry and transport’, ’radiation detectors’, ’biological effects of radiation’, ’accelerator driven systems and fusion reactors’, ’reactor physics and shielding’ and ’societal application- agriculture, industry, food processing and medicine’.
At least 200 delegates are expected to participate in the conference from reputed institutions including National laboratories such as BARC, IGCAR, PRL, defense laboratories, nuclear power stations, universities and IITs stated the release.
