Mangaluru, Nov 2, 2015 : The 60th Karnataka Rajyotsava was celebrated with pomp and gaiety in the State, there were some parts where it was observed as a ‘black day’ marked by protests.  Such protests used to be witnessed only in parts of the border district of Belagavi so far, this year’s Rajyotsava saw similar protests spreading to the coastal districts of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi where a few organisations protested seeking formation of a separate Tulu State while expressing displeasure over the Yettinahole project.

Members of the IIT Horata Samiti attempted to disrupt the celebrations in Raichur to protest denial of the IIT to their district.  In Belagavi, Maharashtra Ekikarana Samiti workers took out a silent procession on bicycles and two-wheelers from Shahpur to Basaveshwar Circle.
