Two policemen, on escort duty, injured in road accident

Udupi, Nov 2, 2015 : A sub-inspector of police and a constable of the City Armed Reserve Police in Bengaluru attached to VVIP duty, suffered minor injuries when the escort vehicle in which they were travelling, was hit by a bus at Athrady village coming under the Hiriyadka police limits on Sunday.

K. Annamalai, Superintendent of Police, told The Hindu that the escort vehicle was accompanying the former Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy coming from Hiriyadka to Udupi, while the bus was on its way from Udupi to Karkala, when the collision took place at Athrady.

The sub-inspector of police, Gopalakrishna, and constable, Manjunath, who were in the escort vehicle, suffered minor injuries and were admitted to the Kasturba Hospital in Manipal for treatment.

A case has been registered at the Hiriyadka police station. Investigation is on.
