Tipu anniversary celebrations opposed

Udupi, Nov 6, 2015 : The Udupi district units of the Karnataka Gourava Samrakshana Samiti and the Hindu Jagrana Vedike have objected to the move of the State government to celebrate the birth anniversary of Tipu Sultan on November 10.

Both the units said that Tipu Sultan was an “intolerant ruler”. The samiti said that it would stage a dharna against the government’s move in front of the Clock Tower here on November 6. The vedike questioned the government’s move of celebrating the birth anniversary on November 10 instead of November 20.
