Mangalore Today News Network

Mangaluru, Jan 22, 2016 :  Skill games and recreation clubs which also involved in gambling in several parts of city have increased tremendously, in the last few years and have evaded the police. Sources say such activities are thriving in  South, Urwa and North Police stations and  have finally come under police net .

Muneer Katipalla, president of DYFI, who also exposed and protested against such recreational clubs and skill games said that his organisation had written an open letter to new City Police Commissioner M Chandra Sekhar to curb activities in city which are allegedly luring students, auto drivers and daily wagers.  "Though we have urged past city commissioner several times there has been no action taken against them. Such activities are financially supporting anti-social activities and communal violence," Muneer stressed.

M Chandra Sekhar, City Police Commissioner says that he has instructed all the police officials in Mangaluru Commissionerate to crack down on in illegal activities like gambling, skill games and prostitution. "Officials have also conducted raids on these places," he added.

However, Muneer blamed that most of these places are operated under the knowledge of jurisdictional police and also shielded by them. Reacting to this top cop said, "Our police officers are sincere, honest and have been carrying their duty rightfully. No single cop is supporting such activities".

There is also a hue and cry about massage parlours in Kudla doubled as flesh trade. To crackdown on activities, police also have carried out several raids in the recent past. "Despite raids and arrest, there are many parlours involved in illegal activities," Muneer added.
