City Aloysius College to hold multi fests under one roof

Mangaluru, Jan 26, 2016: The historic St Aloysius College will host national level seven fests of various branches under one roof during three days event from January 28.

The annual fest at 136-year-old institution consists fests of various streams of namely Art-Beat (Arts), Imprints (Science), ACME (B.Com), Spinout (BBM), Composite (IT Fest), Astitva (Cultural Fest) and Aloysiad (Sports Fest).

Principal Rev Swebert D’silva, said Art-beat fest organized by the faculty of Arts with a theme as ’Avisa’- ocean of talents. During fest an exhibition will be held displaying artifacts and antiques related to the theme of the ocean. Participation expectation will be 20 colleges. The fest will comprise of 16 contests such as Mock Parliament, Cooking relay, Photography, Creative writing, budgeting and Quiz conducted over the span of two days.

’Optimism’ will be the theme of ACME-2016, business fest organized by department of Commerce. Optimism means expecting the best possible outcome from any given situation. The events that will test the participants at the fest are ’Business Quiz’, ’Candor’, ’Chamber of Commerce’, ’Continental Drift’, ’Diplomacy’, ’Revolution’ and ’The Network’.

Pricipal D’Silva said, Spinout by the department of business management conducted exclusively for under graduate students. Spinout is open for BBM/BBA and BCOM streams. The theme for the fest is ’AXIOM’-The Dawn of Reasoning. AXIOM is a generally accepted proposition or principle sanctioned by experience. The fest comprises of 7 events like ’Best Manager’, ’Brand Ambassador’, ’Corporate Quiz’ and ’Marketing’.

The faculty of Science will host ’Imprints’ with theme ’Ignited Minds’ inspired by the works of late Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, the ’Missile Man of India’. The exhibition is under the theme ’Young alchemists in search of the philosopher’s stone’ is held at college premises. The fest comprises of eleven events, said Swebert.


IT fest ’Composite 2k16’ with theme ’Network of Brains’ with the desire to sprout the minds of budding individuals in the field of Information Technology and to turn the smart coastal city of Mangaluru, into an IT hub. The fest comprises of nine including ’Imagino’, a video editing, info extractor the paper presentation event and Armageddon the gaming event.

Astitva 2016, will be open to all stream students. The theme of fest is ’A Cultural odyssey’ imbibing the essence of ’Satrangi’- The seven colors.

Apart from cultural competitions, college will host Aloysiad 2016, sports fest for all the streams. The events for the fest includes Hand Ball- Men, Throw ball-Women, Volley ball- Men/Women, Soft ball-Men, Chess, Table Tennis- Men/Women.

Battle of Bands competition will be on January 30 with theme ’Antara’.
