Mangaluru :  Members of the MBC -  Mangalore Bicycle Club have been observing every second Saturday of the month as ‘Car Free Day’ for about two months to promote public transport and non-motorised transport. On that day, many of the members resort to walk, bus travel and bicycle rides wearing T Shirts with ‘Car Free Day’ slogan for their daily avocation thereby creating awareness about the initiative. While the city and district administration is yet to respond to this initiative, the message is reaching the general public gradually.

Though one might say Ganesh Nayak’s initiatives are aimed at promoting the business, very few entrepreneurs would show the passion and involvement with the subject matter of the business.  Nayak said, “Such comments might come. But no one will take the trouble of riding 2,000 km spending 16 precious days just to promote the business; it is the sheer passion that has been driving me.”

“The cost of this expedition could come to around Rs. 75,000 while I could have covered this distance on motorcycle in two-three days at a cost of about Rs. 20,000,” A Master of Business Administration,  Nayak, now 34, took charge of Jyothi Cycles in 2010 after working for a bank for four years.
