Udupi, Feb 19, 2016 : Speaking on ‘Humour literature in coastal districts’ organised by Prasaranga of Mangalore University and Sahitya Sangha of Sri Bhuvanendra College at Karkala in Udupi district; Bhuvaneshwari Hegde, writer and professor at Mangalore University, said that real humorous literature or articles need not make one laugh uproariously, rather they should stay with the reader for a long time and generate a positive feeling. 

Prof Hegde said that instead of getting addicted to mobile telephones, it was essential that people read humorous articles or books. Such literature would give the people a better outlook to deal with insults and failures. It protected people from losing their nerve in the face of failures, she said.

P. Venkataramana Gowda, principal of Sri Bhuvanendra College, presided over the function. Sukruth, Pramath Jain and Veeraj Jain, office-bearers of Sahitya Sangha, were present.

Dhananjaya Kumble, Assistant Director of Prasaranga, welcomed the gathering. Arun Kumar S.R., Head of the Department of Kannada at the college, proposed a vote of thanks. An exhibition of the books published by the Prasaranga, were displayed.
