Mangaluru, Feb 20, 2016 : Rupith D’Souza, a Class 9 student at St Aloysius High School, Kodialbail, took part in the Republic Day Parade held in Delhi on Jan 26. He is the only high school cadet in NCC Air Wing from Karnataka and Goa Directorate to take part in the camp this year.
Addressing media, Rupith said he was one of the two high school students who were selected for key board playing competition in the Republic Day parade in Delhi. Rupith is the son of Ignatius D’ Souza and Preethi D’ Souza and is an NCC Air Wing cadet at the school. After taking part in Republic Day training in Brahmavar, Mysuru and Bengaluru, he got selected for the R-Day parade in Delhi.
It took about 100 days of rigorous training and hard work to make the grade at Delhi, he said. He said he got an opportunity to play keyboard at the residences of Air Chief Marshal Arup Raha and Admiral R K Dhawan in Delhi.
“On January 27, I got a unique opportunity to play keyboard at the Rashtrapati Bhavan,” a beaming Rupith said.
Rupith has passed his sixth grade examination in keyboard in distinction from Trinity College of Music, London.
He is also an athlete and has secured second place in 400-metre race conducted by the Education Department, thus getting qualified for the national level.
