Udupi, Feb 23, 2016 : Addressing media, the Pejawar seer said that his mutt had purchased 27 cents of land behind the Rajangana parking space here. Vishwesha Tirtha Swami of Paryaya Pejawar Mutt on Feb 22, said that his mutt would be top give priority to construct a guest house in Udupi and construction of a school building and hostel at Pajaka, the birthplace of Madhwacharya, exponent of Dwaita philosophy.
The guesthouse of 40 rooms would be constructed within a year on this land to provide better lodging facilities to the pilgrims. The mutt, which ran a school called Ananda Tirtha Vidyalaya at Pajaka, would construct a new school building to expand it along with a hostel. Already classes one to eight were functioning at the vidyalaya.
The construction of hostel was intended to attract students from across the State. The future project was to add a pre-university college and a degree college at Pajaka. English medium education would be provided from Class 5, he said.
The seer said that the mutt would also conduct a two year residential course for senior citizens who wished to study ‘shastras’ here. A part-time course in Hinduism would be started here for those interested in knowing about Hindu religion, Bhagwad Gita and the ‘shastras’. But the starting of this course would depend on the number of people it attracted, the seer said.
He would give ‘sanyasa deekshe’ to a youth from the Devadiga community within a week. The youth aged 26 was interested in spiritual matters and had been in contact with him for the last six years. “I will reveal the youth’s name later,” he said.
The seer said that he would give ‘nama deekshe’ to people of all castes, while he would give ‘mantra deekshe’ to only those persons who abstain from liquor and consumption of meat. The people receiving ‘nama deekshe’ could consume non-vegetarian food except beef. “I have no agenda except to strengthen the Hindu religion,” he said.
To a query, the seer said that canards had been spread about him by certain forces that he had incited mobs to demolish the Babri mosque in Ayodhya, which were totally false and baseless. “I have participated in Muslim conferences in Kasaragod and Mangaluru. I have always opposed inflammatory statements by Hindus against any other religion,” he said.
