Karavali Brevet 2016 cycling gets good response

Mangaluru , Feb 29, 2016: Thirty two cyclists participated in Karavali Brevet 2016, a 200 km event organised by MACC - Mangalore Cycling Club Feb 28, Sunday. Karavali Brevet is first of its kind event in this coastal city after MACC got recognition from Audax India to conduct the events.

The riders were tasked to cycle for circuit-Mangaluru-Koteshwara-Mangaluru- within13-1/2 hours. They had to pass through check points set up en-route. Some portions of the route passed through beach stretches, from Kaup to Kallianpura in Udupi district and this involved crossing backwater on a boat.

About 29 cyclists completed the Brevet successfully with Krishna Kumar from MACC finishing the event in eight hours and 50 minutes. Those who completed also included Class 10 student Samith Javia (10.43 hrs) and his mother Parul Javia (11.14 hrs).

The participants were mainly from Mangaluru, members of MACC as well as Mangalore Bicycle Club, Udupi and one rider was from Bengaluru. The Brevet was flagged off at 5.30am from Taj Cycles in Kankanady. En-route, police made arrangements to ensure safety of cyclists.
