Siddavana Gurukula in Ujire marks platinum jubilee

Mangaluru, May 10, 2016: Speaking after inaugurating the platinum jubilee celebrations of Siddavana Gurukula at SDM Naturopathy Hall in Ujire, Ramakrishna Mutt (Mangaluru) president Swami Jitakamanandaiji said that Siddavana Gurukula is instrumental in following the Vivekananda’s mode of education. According to him, education means the process by which character is formed, strength of mind is increased and intellect is sharpened, as a result of which one can stand on one’s own feet. Gurukula system is the best form of education for character building and overall development of a human being.

The seer went on to say, education which develops character, moral principals and intelligence provides self-confidence and self-reliance among the individuals. Purity, patience and perseverance overcome all obstacles, he added.

Presiding over the programme, Sri Kshetra Dharmsthala Dharmadhikari Dr D Veerendra Heggade said that Siddavana Gurukula is basically not meant for poor students, but it serves for the needs of less privileged and aspiring students. Siddavana Gurukula purely depends upon the principles of adopt, accommodate and accept. Hence, it is a model institution and anybody can apply this kind education system, he added.

The former wardens of Siddavana Gurukula, S Prabhakara, Jinraj Shasthri, Mahabala Bhat were felicitated on the occasion. The souvenir ’Amrutha Siddhi’ was released on the occasion.

SDME Vice President Prof S Prabhakar, Secretary Dr B Yashovarma, Janardhana Swamy Temple Administrator Vijayaraghav Padvetnaya, Co-ordinator Dr B A Kumar Hegde were present among others.
