Mangaluru May 13, 2016: A news release states that a two-day aero modelling competition ‘Aerophilia’ for undergraduate students across the country will open at Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management here on May 13.
Participating teams are expected to design a radio-controlled aircraft with regulated parameters in its dimension and power system. National and international radio flyers of national repute will perform special attractive air shows. IITs (Indian Institutes of Technology) and NITs (National Institutes of Technology) are expected to participate in this competition. IIT, Bombay, IIT, Madras, IIT, Kharagpur, IIT, Kanpur, and NITK, Surathkal have confirmed their participation.
An air show will be held on May 14 from 4 pm to 5 pm at the college campus at Adyar. The Aerophilia 2016 winners will receive cash prizes of Rs 50,000, Rs 30,000 and Rs 15,000, first and second runner up, respectively. Two teams will also receive consolation prizes of Rs 5,000 each.
Nation’s aero modelling enthusiasts will come to the city for the event on May 13 and display their models on the day from12.15 pm to 1.15pm, after the first round of aero show. Day one of the event will also see demonstration of turbines and end with night flying from 7pm to 8 pm.
