Mangaluru, June 2, 2016: MRPL, Mangalore Refinery & Petrochemicals Ltd signed a MoU, Memo of Understanding, with Dr Shivarama Karantha Pilikula Nisargadhama, Moodushedde to take up greenbelt development in Pilikula Biological Park (Deer park) at Pilikula Nisargadhama. The project named "Let us plant a forest - create green belt" MRPL will sponsor plantation and subsequent maintenance for period of three years on 20 acres of land by planting 2,000 plants at a cost of around Rs 30 lakh.
MRPL has been evincing keen interest in development of green belt right from inception and a considerable area has already been brought under afforestation programme under green belt development within the refinery area. MRPL had contacted Pilikula for allotment of land for developing green belt. Pilikula authorities had offered MRPL to participate in this unique project to develop 20 acres with plantation of different plants from Western Ghat species.
