Udupi, June 3, 2016: As per confirmed reports, a team from the Udupi  CMC, City Municipal Council prevented  the compound wall construction of Manipal University in Vijayanagara area near Saralebettu.

D. Manjunathaiah, CMC commissioner, said that the team had gone to the area after they received complaints from the residents that the compound wall was being constructed without leaving a road margin.

After listening to the complaints, the CMC stopped the compound wall work. About 70 metres of compound wall had been built, he said.

Claims : The university personnel there claimed that the compound work was going in their own land. But the situation is not clear. There will be a spot inspection by a team of Revenue Department on June 8. This will make clear how much and which land belongs to the Revenue Department and which to the university,”  Manjunathaiah said.

Meanwhile, Narayana Sabhahit, Registrar of Manipal University, said that the university would verify all the records and take appropriate action.
