’Alva’s Pragati’ for 7th year to boost placements, July 2, 3

Moodbidri, June 06, 2016: Alva’s Education Foundation state that it is all set for the seventh edition of Alva’s Pragati, the annual mass placement drive organized by Alva’s Education Foundation, from July 2 will be bigger this year. With nearly 400-odd companies expected to take part in this two-day drive to be held at Alva’s Vidyagiri campus, Moodbidri, the organisers are bracing for 20,000 plus students - mostly fresher’s to hard sell their skill sets before the participating companies and strive to land their dream first job.

Last year, ’Alva’s Pragati’ saw 272 companies and 18,000 plus job aspirants attend with more than 5,525 offers rolled out. A follow up on the event through 106 exclusive and pool campus drives saw a further 1,043 students get selected by the companies, Vivek M Alva, managing trustee, Alva’s said. The thrust of Pragati is to upgrade this platform to make it more beneficial to the candidates and companies and creating employment opportunities for rural youth. 

B R Shetty, CEO of Abu Dhabi based NMC and UAE Exchange will inaugurate the event. Out of the 400-odd companies, more than 150 companies have confirmed their participation and their numbers will only increase. Alva’s will take care of hospitality and logistics of all participant corporates. Alva’s Pragati is open not only for the institution’s  students but also to student aspirants across India. "We have received students from across the country over the years," the managing trustee  said.

This year, there will be better representation of companies from sectors such as manufacturing, IT, ITeS, Telecom, BFSi, sales/retail, pharma, hospitality, healthcare, education/NGO, and defence. There is extensive opportunity for graduates across streams. Hotel management students should make use of this opportunity, he said, adding nursing graduates, medical laboratory technology, ITI/diploma students too are the ones who can expect to make the most of this event.

Alva’s has come up with Android and iOS based mobile apps to benefit both aspirants and participating companies. This app will give real-time information to all candidates on participating companies with the job profile for their specific qualification. Also the candidates will receive notification on interview process based on their qualification, he said.
