Mangaluru, June 8, 2016:In one sample case it is reported that, difference of 20 marks has been found in the tabulation of marks in the SSLC English answer paper of a student from Gunashri Vidyalaya. The student, Raksha, was one among the 39 students of the SSLC batch of the current year in the school. The school recorded 98 per cent results, with 38 students passing the examination.
The headmistress of the school, who had expected 100% result this year, obtained the photocopies of the answer papers of some students.
In the answer paper in question, although the total mark was 81, it was mentioned as 61. After the incident, 17 other students have asked for the photocopies of their answer papers. A sum of Rs 300 has to be paid to obtain the photocopy of an answer paper and Rs 700 for revaluation. The error committed by the evaluators and the Karnataka Secondary Education Examination Board has turned out to be a huge burden for students, parents and teachers.
The parents of the students have urged the BEO, block education officer and the DDPI to respond to the problem immediately. If they fail to do so, complaints will be made to the minister of primary and high school education. This is indeed a matter for alarm.
