NHAI Adalat to clear paying compensation on June 11,Sat

Mangaluru, June 10, 2016: The DK district administration will hold `NHAI Land Acquisition Parihar Adalat’ in order to disburse compensation to land owners who have not received or claimed compensation from the NHAI, National Highways Authority of India at Mini Vidhana Soudha here on June 11,Saturday.

DK DC Adoor B Ibrahim said the road widening from Talapady to Nanthoor and Surathkal to Mulki involves 17 villages and 57 hectares of land. "A sum of Rs 53 crore is lying idle with the district administration as there is arbitration involved. We intend to finish the process once for all through this adalat,’’ said the DC.

He said 376 land owners appealed for arbitration to increase the compensation and an order has been passed for the increase in compensation to 296 landowners. "We have already dispersed the increased compensation by 20% to 40% to 87 landowners. But many have not come forward to claim the compensation," said DC.

The total compensation for 57 hectare acquisition stands at Rs 104.51 crore. This has been brought to the notice of the CM’s chief secretary, said DC adding that the former had directed to expedite the process.
