Campco, co-ops approach minister on areca import curbs

Mangaluru, June 10, 2016: CAMPCO, The Central Arecanut and Cocoa Marketing and Processing Co-operative Limited, along with the Karnataka State Arecanut Cooperative Societies Federation Limited (Shivamogga) and MAMCOS (Shivamogga) submitted a memorandum to Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industries Nirmala Seetharaman, at Mangalore.

They requested her to take steps to curb import of arecanut. Minister for State Home Affairs Haribhai P Choudhary was present.  According to a press release issued by CAMPCO, Seetharaman has assured that she will take up the matter with SAARC countries and will take necessary action to completely curb the import of arecanut.

Campco president S R Satischandra, Managing Director M Suresh Bhandary, Karnataka State Arecanut Cooperative Societies Federation president Konkodi Padmanabha, MAMCOS Vice President Yedegere Subrahmanya, and Campco Director K Satheeshchandra Bhandary were present.
