Collage exhibition by students in M’luru June 10 to 12

Mangaluru, June 10, 2016: Addressing media, N S Pattar, artist and Mahalasa School of Visual Arts lecturer, said that  ’Collage Chitra Payana’, an exhibition of collages, created by students of Government High School, Manchi Kolnadu, Bantwal taluk, will be organised at Prasad Art Gallery, Ballalbagh, June 10 to 12.  A total of 25 collages, by 25 students of the school, on various themes such as monuments in Hampi, villages, still life and natural landscapes will figure.

The exhibition will be inaugurated at Prasad Art Gallery on June 10 at 10.30 am. Alva’s Theatre Study Centre Director Jeevanram Sullia, DIET, District Institute for Education and Training  Principal Y Shivaramaiah will preside over the formal programme. Artists Dinesh Holla, Ganesh Somayaji, Mahalasa School of Visual Arts principal L Purushottam Nayak and Government High School, Manchi, principal V Sriramamurthy will be guests on the occasion.

N S Pattar said that the students have been trained by art teacher Taranath Kairangala. The concept of the exhibition is of the journey of an art rather than mere exhibition, as it covers a range of topics which inspire everyone. The art of collage demands a great deal of patience as no colour is used directly. The pieces of newspapers and magazines are replaced by colour - hence, one has to cut the pieces with care and combine them together, to create an image. At least a week would be required to complete a piece of art.

The students who will exhibit their works at the expo are Haricharan, Kruthika A, Gurukumar K, Sharanya Rai K, Rashmitha N, Ashwitha K, Abhishek, Pushpa, Ashalatha N, Mohammed Masood, Vinayashree K, Suraj K, Poornesh, Sagar, Bhavyashree K, Prathesh N, Navyashree M, Vandana Kumari B, Prateeksha N, Prajwal Kumar, Sahan B, Ankit, Shrinidhi Pathooru, Saujanya Rai K and Drushya, from classes eighth, ninth and tenth, Pattar said.

Art teacher Taranath Kairangala said that the artworks will also be available for sale and the gathered amount will be utilised for the betterment of the students.

School headmaster V Shriramamurthy said that the Government High School, Manchi, Kolnadu, has been giving due importance to extra curricular activities. The students are trained in sports, yoga, karate and theatre. The schoolchildren have a separate cultural team, which has performed on various stages including Karavali Utsava.
