He informed that on July 11, 42 building construction workers and their representatives from building construction labourers unions visited his office. He assured that the files submitted by them have been received and would be disposed within the week.
The issues were related to the pending disbursement of compensation to the construction workers given by the Construction Workers Welfare Board of the Labour department. The Board provides marriage assistance of Rs 50,000, a compensation of Rs two lakh in case of accidental death along with a ex-gratia of Rs 50,000 and funeral expenses of Rs 4000.
The Assistant Commissioner said that in some cases, the files were not dispatched to the labourers, due to change of address.
