Veterinary College work commences at Kolya, Puttur

Mangaluru, July 14, 2016: The Veterinary College in Koyla project was sanctioned during the tenure of the then Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda. However, it could not be realised in the stipulated time since the grant was not released.  Construction work of the Puttur Veterinary College in Koyla has begun after a neglect of four years.

It is reported that Animal Husbandry and Veterinary department Commissioner Adoni Syed Salim visited Koyla and conducted a land survey on September 5, 2012. A 247 acre land was sanctioned after the inspection. The RTC, Record for Tenancy rights Certificate for the land was ready in the name of Karnataka Veterinary and Fisheries Sciences University.

Dakshina Kannada District In-charge Minister B Ramanath Rai said that Rs 300 crore has been sanctioned towards the college.  He informed that the tender process for the first phase at a budget of Rs 100 crore, has been allotted to Star Builders and Developers, Bengaluru. He said that the office construction equipment and raw materials have been procured.

Speaking to media persons in Nelyadi, Minister  Rai said that the Chief Minister will perform the ground breaking in the days to come. "Reports that the college was shifted to former Animal Husbandry minister T B Jayachandra’s constituency Shira was false," he said.
