Mangaluru, Aug 4,2016: Students from two government primary schools in Mangaluru and their parents on Wednesday urged the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) to stop the process of transfer of additional teachers from their schools.
The students from Government Higher Primary School in Kumpala and Pilar said that transfer of one teacher each from their schools will severely impact their education. They said that denial of services of these teachers will affect their care and hence, sought the intervention of the Child Welfare Committee.
Chairman of Dakshina Kannada Child Welfare Committee Nikesh Shetty said that the issue of redeployment of additional teachers does not come under the purview of the committee. The committee cannot pass orders stopping the process of redeployment.
However, Mr. Shetty said that the representation made by the students will be sent to the Karnataka State Commission for Protection of Child Rights, which was the competent authority to decide on issues related to Right to Education.
