Mangaluru, Aug 10, 2016: It is reported that SIO, Students Islamic Organisation of India Karnataka chapter will launch an online and offline battle against terrorism to motivate youth to be moderate and stay away from extremism.
BeModerateSayNoToExtremism - the hashtag created by SIO went viral on social networking sites, discouraging youth who are attracted towards terrorism. In an effort to oppose terrorism, the SIO Karnataka chapter has not only launched an online campaign, but also has planned a regional conference in Mangaluru on the eve of Independence Day. ’Be moderate and say no to extremists’ and ’Balanced thoughts for constructive society’ are the two major topics that will be deliberated by Islamic leaders during a regional conference to be organized by SIO, at Town Hall on August 14.
Meanwhile, SKSM, South Karnataka Salafi Movement has launched another campaign in masjids through handbills against IS. SKSM has pasted these handbills in most of the masjids, under the organization in Mangaluru.
The handbill which is being circulated by the SKSM to its units, condemns strongly the killings by IS in the name of Islam. It also warns all SKSM units, masjids, madrassas to be vigilant against moves that mislead youth. "Public preaching and classes should not be held by moulavis without SKSM’s recommendations. Care should be taken to prevent unidentified and suspicious persons from staying in masjids," the handbill reads.
Mohammed Kunhi, president, Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Mangalore, will be the main speaker at the regional conference to be organized by the SIO Karnataka chapter at Town Hall in Mangaluru, on August 14.
