Aug 17, 2016: The police outpost at Bellare has been upgraded to a full-fledged police station at Bellare, it was inaugurated by District In-charge Minister B Ramanath Rai. Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said police have a duty to treat everyone equally or else the administration machinery will lose its value. Anti-social activities will not be allowed to weaken the spirit of the police.
MLC and Legislative Council Chief Whip Ivan D’Souza said Home Minister Parameshwara has agreed that 20,000 policemen will be appointed soon. IGP (Western Range) J Arun Chakravarthy said the government gains respect when police perform their duties properly.
MLA Shakuntala Shetty, who presided over the programme, said the police should be people-friendly and should respond to the problems of women. Police should take only constructive criticism. Both the police and the citizens should know their responsibilities. The newly inaugurated police station will cover Mupperita, Kalanja, Balila, Kodiyala, Peruvaje, Bellare, Ivarnadu, Amaramudnoor, Amarapadnoor, Palthadi, Kolthige, Kalmadka, Enmoor, Murulya, Edamangala, Kaniyoor, Belandoor, Savanoor, Kayimina, Kudmaru and Punchappady villages. An outpost at Siddakatte in Sangabettu village of Bantwal taluk was also inaugurated.
State Social Welfare Board Chairperson Divyaprabha Chiltadka, Sullai TP President Chaniya Kaltadka, Bellare GP President Shakuntala Nagaraj and others participated.
