Mangaluru, Oct 3,2016: It is reported that more than 100 people, who have been admitted to different hospitals after they fell ill after eating fish heads, are on the path of recovery.

The victims who were in the intensive care unit of KS Hedge hospital have been shifted to general wards. The doctors said all of them are responding to treatment.
Meanwhile, Ullal police have not registered any case against the fish export firm for selling fish waste to the locals. "We have collected all the necessary details like where the fish were procured from and so  on. We have submitted the details to the concerned authorities," said police sub inspector Shivaprakash.

According to sources, two variety fish of perch family—Cavage (in local language) and Chamberi- were consumed by more than hundred people including factory workers. These are known as estuarine fish. Fish processing units throw away the fish waste after removing the flesh. The fish head and other wastes are normally used in the preparation of fish meal and manure.
