Mangaluru, Nov 02, 2016: Continuing the fourth of nine weeks cleanliness drives of the 400 abhiyans, organised by Ramakrishna Mission, Mangaluru, took off on earlier in the week at nine venues in the city. About 1,000 volunteers took active part in the drive.
The employees of Sri Ram Transport Finance Co Ltd took up the drive at the areas surrounding AB Shetty Circle. Swami Jitakamananda, president, Ramakrishna Mutt, and MLC Capt Ganesh Karnik jointly flagged off the drive.
The Members of Lions Club, under the leadership of Sadashiva Rai and Prashanth Rao, cleaned the Marnamikatta area for about two hours. The team was coordinated by Suresh Shetty. Swami Jitakamananda and Harshakumar Kedige jointly flagged off the drive. While the members of Hindu warriors WhatsApp Group took up the 35th cleanliness drive near Milagres Circle, Swami Dharmavratananda flagged off the drive. The volunteers cleaned the road dividers, removing the accumulated mud and stones. The area around Lighthouse Hill road was cleared of the construction debris and the medians were painted.
The surroundings of Rosario church and school were cleaned. Latif, Corporator, and Nishchay jointly flagged off the cleanliness drive. Team Inspiration carried out the drive around Infosys in Kottara. Swami Ekagamyananda of Ramakrishna Mutt and Madan, SI, Bunder, jointly flagged off the drive. Brahmacharis of the Ramakrishna Mutt joined hands with several volunteers in cleaning the area. Both sides of the road were cleaned and bus shelter was painted.
At Jeppu, the members of Bhagini Samaj and Nivedita Balaga carried out the 38th cleanliness drive. Silver Fox Youth team cleaned the surroundings of Bunts Hostel area for about two hours. Swami Dharmavratananda of Ramakrishna Mutt and MLC Capt Ganesh Karnik jointly flagged off the drive.
The devotees of Sri Chakrapani temple joined in the Abhiyan by cleaning the temple premises, KMC and surrounding areas. An earthmover and tipper were used to clear the dirt and mud accumulated in the area.
The Crazy Guys team carried out the cleanliness drive at Monkey stand and Amar Alva Road. Nitte Education Trust and MRPL are patrons of this 3rd phase of Swacch Mangaluru Abhiyan.
