Former director (R&D) of Nitte University Dr Arunachalam Kumar on Nov 14, Monday exhorted teachers to mould their pupils to think out of the box.  Kumar said it is possible to hone skills of the students only when a teacher dares to take up challenges.

He advised teachers to acquire knowledge to satiate intellectual queries of their students. The present generation pupils believe more in teachers. It is evident with an experience at the personal level, he said where a girl refused to accept that the national flag has four colours (including that of Ashoka Chakra, for the only reason that according to her teacher it is made of three colours (saffron, white and green).

Kumar said it is up to teachers to think like a student and make them productive assets of the country as the students have enormous faith in their teachers.
Narrating his real life experiences, Kumar said knowledge is stagnant when compared to wealth. If one has knowledge, they can achieve greather heights, he felt.
