Cycle rally in Manipal to promote safe use of antibiotics

Manipal,Nov 22,2016:  cycle rally was held to promote awareness on safe antibiotic use as part of the Global Antibiotic Awareness Week here on Sunday.

According to a press release here, the rally was organised by Kasturba Hospital, Indian Medical Association, Udupi Cycling Club and other organisations.

A large number of cyclists participated in the rally, which was flagged off from the OPD block of Kasturba Hospital. They cycled from the main streets of Manipal reached Udupi and then cycled back by 10 a.m.

The rally was held to create awareness on misuse of antibiotics by people and also making the medical fraternity aware of judicious use of antibiotics. The key message was, “Always take antibiotics as prescribed by the physician. Take antibiotics to treat only bacterial infections. Do not take antibiotics in viral infections such as cold, cough, flu or diarrhoea. Do not stop antibiotics before completing prescribed course of treatment. Take antibiotics in right dose and in right time.”
