Mangaluru, Dec 6, 2016 : A Pancha Theertha Saptha Kshetra Ratha Yatra aimed at pressurising the state government to drop the controversial Yettinahole Project will commence at Subrahmanya on December 10 and culminate at Kateel on December 12 after passing through Dharmasthala, Uppinangady, Polali, Kadri and Bappanadu which are also famous pilgrim shrines, informed Vijay Kumar Shetty, President of Netravathi Samrakshana Samyukta Samithi.
Continuing, Shetty said it was indeed regrettable to note that the people have failed to understand the gravity of the situation. He also criticized the government and the elected representatives for being firm in going ahead with the project despite the opposition to the same.
Shetty also stated that senior Congress leader B Janardhana Poojary too has pledged support to the yatra.
M G Hegde, Convenor of the Samithi, said the Yatra will be held above party lines. MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, former deputy mayor Purushottam Chitrapur and religious heads of all faiths will participate, he stated.
