ACB raids taluk office, clerk’s residence

Belthangady, Dec 23, 2016: The officials of ACB, Anti Corruption Bureau conducted a raid on the residence of Belthangady taluk office First Division Assistant Govinda Naika at Guruvayanakere on Dec 22, Thursday and seized documents, jewels and cash.  ACB Inspectors Yogish Kumar, Dinakar Shetty, Mathew, Sathish, Ranganath and Ramesh carried out the raid under the guidance of Mangaluru ACB SP Channabasavanna at 6 am.

The raid was based on public complaints against the corrupt practices of Govinda Naika. Approximately Rs 6 lakh in the denomination of Rs 2000, Rs 100 and Rs 50, deposit certificates of lakhs of rupees and some important records of taluk office have been seized.

The lockers, owned by Govinda Naika in various banks, accounts in banks and post offices and other documents related to properties are being examined by the ACB officials and detailed information is awaited.  Though he was transferred to Puttur and Vittal, he was successful in getting the transfers cancelled, using influence. His wife is working as a health assistant at a primary health centre in Punjalkatte.
