Secure homes, Police GPS-based service soon

Mangalore Today News Network

Dec 23, 2016: It has been announced that DK, Dakshina Kannada district police and Mangaluru city police have developed a GPS/ WhatsApp-based service where the people may request the Police department to keep an eye on their houses while they move out of their houses for a long time.

The ’Gruha Suraksha’ makes use of location-based services and requires a smart phone.

What the house owners have to do is to add the Whatsapp number 9480805300 to their phone contact as Dakshina Kannada Police Control Room and turn the GPS location on. Later, go to WhatsApp, select the contact and press the tagpin symbol on the menu. Select the option ’location’ and then, ’Send your current location’. This should be done while the user is in the house.

After the current location is set, type the information on where the family is heading to, when the family will be out and when it will return. Attach the photos of the house premises later on and send the message to the receiver.
