Detained in ’chain snatching’ is Ullal CMC chief’s son; Other crime reports.

Mangaluru, Dec 28, 2016: Reports say that the Mangaluru North police have arrested two persons in connection with chain snatching reported in Ullal and Moodbidri region. The arrested are Vimarsh Alva (21), a resident of Kulshekar, and Shahil Hussain (21), a resident of Pandeshwar. Vimarsh is the son of Human Rights Federation of India former executive director Vijay Prasad Alva and the present Ullal City Municipal Council commissioner Vani Alva.

The police have seized three gold chains and 2 two-wheelers, from the arrested. The value of the total seized property is Rs 2.26 lakh. The duo were involved in chain snatching reported at Madyar in Ullal police station jurisdiction on December 13 and at Moodbidri on December 25.

Ironically, the Facebook page of Vimarsh, an alumnus of St Aloysius College and Sharada Vidyalaya, reads, “Once you become fearless, life becomes limitless.”

Held for sexual assault : The Dharmasthala police have arrested a man for reportedly trying to outrage the modesty of a minor girl at Nidle.  The arrested is Umesh, 25. He entered inside the house of the girl when her family members had gone out. Based on the complaint by the girl’s mother, the police arrested the man. A case under Pocso Act has been registered.

Gold stolen : The thieves gained entry into a house and decamped with 40 pawn gold ornaments and cash of Rs 9,000 at Peraje in Sullia on Monday night. The house belongs to Abdul Rahim.  The theft occurred when the family members were attending a religious discourse at a mosque in Peraje. A case has been registered.

Woman held for theft :  The Konaje police have arrested a woman who was accused of engaging in theft of ornaments worn by small children at marriage halls by diverting their attention.  The arrested is Minnath, 39, a resident of Kodi Ullal. She was engaged in theft of ornaments worn by children at marriage halls at Thokkottu and Deralakatte. The stolen ornaments were sold to Yogesh of Ombattukere. The police have arrested Yogesh as well. The police have seized 60 gram gold ornaments from Minnath and 23 gram ornaments from Yogesh.
