Jan 07, 2017: Asha Jyothi, a unit of Seva Bharathi, will organise ’Vishishtarigagi Vishishta Mela 2017,’ a special programme for persons with disability (PWDs) and also to remove the inferiority complex prevailing in the society with regard to ’Divyaangs’ at Canara High School in Dongarakeri on January 8.
Asha Jyothi secretary Dr Muralidhar Naik told media that a procession of persons with disabilities with their parents will be taken out from the Loyola Hall at St Aloysius PU College at 9 am to the venue. The procession will be inaugurated by Corporation Bank DGM Vittal Shenoy and the mela would be inaugurated by Corporation Bank general manager M B Ganesh. Department for the Empowerment of Differently Abled and Senior Citizens director Govindaraju will preside over the programme.
As part of the programme, a medical check-up, consultation camp and if required, treatment plan has been proposed for those who have different types of vision problems. The attractions of the mela include - stalls of eatables, fruits and beverages, rotating cradle, horse and camel riding and providing information on facilities available for PWDs from the government.
