Three day Intercollege ’Aloysian Fest - 2017’ at SAC from Feb 2

Mangaluru, Feb 1, 2017: A media information from St Aloysius College states that it is organizing its annual Aloysian Fest 2016-17, an Inter-Collegiate confluence of academic and cultural talents, from 2 to 4 February 2017 at the Mother Theresa Peace Park in the college campus. The inauguration of the fests will be held tomorrow Thursday, 02 February 2, 2017 at 9 am in the college premises.

Deputy General Manager, Central Bank of India, Vasti  Venkatesh, will be the Chief Guest, and Kishore Alva,  Executive Director, Project Development Corporate Affairs UPCL, will be the Guest of Honor for the event. Rev.  Dionysius Vas SJ, Rector of St. Aloysius Institutions will preside over the function.  Rev. Swebert D’Silva SJ, Principal of St Aloysius College (Autonomous), Dr. Mukund Prabhu, Coordinator, Vice Principals, coordinators of the fests, and Michelle D’Souza, President of Students’ Council of St. Aloysius College will also be present for the Inauguration.

The main sponsor of the event is the Central Bank of India, with UPCL, Nandikur, and Karnataka Bank as the co-sponsor.

The annual event consists of eight fests of various streams of the college, namely Art-Beat (Arts; Social Work), Imprints (Science), ACME (Commerce), Spinout (Management), Composite (Computer Application),  Astitva (Cultural Fest), Aloysiad (Sports Fest) and Symphonia (Battle of the Bands). Around 90 colleges are
expected to participate in the event.  The valedictory function will be held at the Mother Theresa Peace Park in the college campus, on 4 February 2017 at
3.30pm.  The fests are as follows:  Art-Beat: Art-Beat is a national level arts fest organized by the Faculty of Arts of St. Aloysius College. This year’s  theme is ‘Nisarga’- A Choice to Care. The competitions are scheduled to be held on 2 and 3 February 2017. An  exhibition will be held displaying artifacts and antiques pertaining to the theme. The fest will comprise of 15 events,  including Wealth out of Waste, Mock Parliament, Debate, Photography and Paper Presentation, conducted over the  span of two days.

Imprints: Imprints is a national level science fest organized by the Faculty of Science of St. Aloysius College. The theme for Imprints this is ‘Symphony of Symmetry’. The exhibition is under the theme ‘Tribute to the Lesser  Known Heroes of Science’. The fest comprises of 9 events, including special competitions on botany, physics,  mathematics and chemistry. The fest will be held on 2 and 3 February 2017.

ACME: ACME is a national level business fest organized by Department of Commerce of St. Aloysius College. Acme 2017 will be held on 2 and 3 February 2017 in the Arrupe Block of Commerce and Management. The theme is  ‘Chaos and Calm’- Expect the Unexpected. The events organized include Quiz, Stress Interview, and Financial  Analysis.

Spin-Out: Spinout is a National level Management fest conducted by the Department of Business Management of St. Aloysius. The theme for the fest is ‘Surge’- Challenging Time. The fest will be held on 2 and 3 February 2017. It comprises of 6 events, including Best Manager, Crisis Management, and Marketing.

Composite: Composite is a national level IT fest conducted by the Department of Computer Applications of St. Aloysius College. The fest will be held on 2 and 3 February 2017. This year’s theme is ‘Conclave of Tech-Know  Minds’. The fest comprises of 10 events, including Paper Presentation, Treasure Hunt, Coding, Web Design and Gaming.

Astitva: Astitva is a national level cultural fest for the students of all the streams, which will be held on 3 and 4  February 2017. The theme for Astitva is ‘A Celebration of Artistic Grace’. The fest comprises of 8 events, including

Face Painting, Variety Entertainment, Folk Dance and JAM.

Aloysiad: Aloysiad is a national level sports fest for all streams. The fest will be held on 2 and 3 February 2017. The events include basketball, volleyball, softball, chess, throwball and handball, for men and women.

Symphonia: The Battle of Bands is national level musical competition to be held on 4 February 2017. The winning  band will get a grand prize of Rs. 5000.
