City autos to be more passenger friendly

Udupi, Feb 3, 2017: In a bid to make autorickshaw drivers better city guides and also to assist visitors, Kudla Sauharda Sahakari will organise a one-day training for autorickshaw drivers at Radhakrishna Mandira in Urwa on February 4.

ARCS, Autorickshaw Chalakara Sangha working president Ashok Konchadi told media on Feb 2, Thursday that 25 autorickshaws in the city will be fitted with tabs and PayTMs so that anybody using the tourist-friendly autorickshaws can check for themselves any location in the city, the distance and the facilities available with a touch of a button as part of the programme.  In addition, the passengers will have the option to pay the money through PayTM.

Terming the facility as first-of-its-kind in the state, Ashok said the cost of the tab, which is expected to be around Rs 15,000, will be borne by the ARCS with the help from a firm.
