Mangaluru, Feb 24, 2017: In regard to calls from saffron fringe groups for a hartal/bundh on Feb 25, Saturday and bring city to standstill opposing visit of Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Department of Pre-University Education (DPUE) is all set to go ahead with ongoing annual examinations of I PUC on February 25.
KR Thimmaiah, DDPU, DK in an official note said that all the examinations of February 25 (Saturday) will be held and there is no plan to postpone the same. He added decision has been taken after a round of talks with Regional Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner, DK and C Shikha, director, DPUE. "We have made sure that all the transport facilities are in place for students travelling to exam centres to writing their exams," he stressed.
In order prevent malpractices during examination, second PU candidates will not be allowed to write exams in their own colleges, but will be given other centres. The practice, which is already in use for SSLC examination, will be followed in city and taluk headquarters and not in rural areas.
Students from Mangaluru, Bantwal, Puttur, Moodbidri and Belthangady will be allotted different colleges. "However, this rule which will be implemented for the first time will not be applicable to rural areas of Dakshina Kannada," he said adding that the rule is made for a glitch-free PU exam, which was marred by Chemistry paper leak last year.
