Teams, jersey, trophy to be launched April 4, today

Apr 04, 2017: The maiden edition of Coastalwood Premier League (CPL) will begin a week later than initially planned due to the non availability of the ground.  Now the tournament is set to l be held from April 11 to 15 instead from April 4-8 as planned earlier.

The organisers have decided to launch  the trophy, teams and jersey on April 4,  Tuesday  (Today) at Forum Fiza Mall at Pandeshwar. A Sadananda Shetty, chairman, Sridevi Educational Trust, will launch the trophy in the presence of ministers, MPs and MLAs of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts, Imtiyaz, chief convener of the tournament said.


The teams that participate in CPL are; Glitz Gladiators (owner: Tushar, Surathkal); Royal Rangers (Musthafa, Kaikamba); Jugari Warriors (Praveen Kodialbail and Dhanraj); Kadandale Tigers (Suresh Bhandary Kadandale); Kalkude Lions (Lokesh Shetty Mucchuru and Jiyan Ali); Tulunada Panthers (Sandeep Shetty Maravoor, Jithendra Kottari and Badrinath Kamath); Kodialbail Challengers (Vijayakumar Kodialbail and Roopa Vijayakumar); and Brand Vision Tuskers (Aris).


The eight teams have been divided into two pools of 4 teams each. In the league, each team plays 3 matches and 3 teams from each pool will qualify for the knock out. The top team in each pool will gain direct entry to the semi-finals. The second and third placed teams will be involved in an eliminator to qualify for the semi-finals. The winners will receive an attractive trophy and Rs 2-lakh cash prize and the runners up a trophy and Rs 1 lakh cash.
