BJP to promote cattle conservation measures

Mangalore Today News Network

Mangaluru, July 30, 2017: Speaking at a meeting at BJP office, BJP Cattle Protection Unit, Udupi, state coordinator Siddharth Goenka said the party workers should make a list of illegal slaughter houses in the Udupi  district as cattle conservation is the most important concern today.

Goenka said that the cattle conservation measures should be initiated right from the grassroots level at blocks. In Uttar Pradesh, the state government, led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, has taken all measures to shut down the illegal slaughter houses and the conservation of the cattle began from closing down the slaughter houses in the state. The members of the unit should list all the illegal slaughter houses in the district, he said.

Goenka said BJP will come to power in state in the next Assembly election and the party can easily wipe out the illegally functioning slaughter houses.

He said Mahatma Gandhi dreamt of the country in which the cattle are not slaughtered and it is the duty of Hindus to ensure the realisation of the dream of Mahatma. Cattle are a treasure. They are useful in all phases of human lives. Biogas is be more beneficial than LPG as it is purely an organic form of fuel, he added.

He added that a signature campaign demanding the increase in the penalty and degree of punishment under Animal Cruelty Act should be conducted. The Act imposes very minimal punishment which has led to the increase in the crime against the cattle. The Gomala land should be used for the genuine purpose. Sadly, the illegal dwelling or encroachment of Gomala land has led to the displacement of the cattle stock.

The government is not taking any measure to evacuate the land, which is earmarked for rearing of the cattle, he charged.
