In DK District rice on 35, 460 acre land sowed

Mangaluru, August 6, 2017: DK authorities state that with recent rainfall, farming activities in Dakshina Kannada district have been intensified further. According to the latest data received, rice sown on area of 35, 460 acre land in the district out of which rice is sown on an area of 7410 acre in Mangaluru taluk followed by Bantwal (12844 acre), Belthangady (11238 acre), Puttur (3087 acre) and in Sullia taluk (864 acre). 

In Dakshina Kannada district, an area of 56452 hectares of land utilized for rice crop during both Kharif and Rabi season in 2013-14 followed by 53640 hectares in 2014-15 and 43, 282 hectares in 2016-17. The state government has distributed 504 quintal seed to the farmers for sowing. Chemical fertilizers have also being distributed to the rice farmers through co-operative societies, shops and others.
