Mangaluru, Aug 22,2017:Jagotik Konknni Songhotton (JKS) has convened an important Seminar, on August 27, Sunday, commencing at 10 a.m., at Kalaangann, Mangaluru, to discussan important issue affecting the future of Konkani namely – ‘The Imposition of Hindi in India and its impact on other languages, especially Konkani’.
Three experts will be presenting papers :
1. Shri Mani Manivannan, Chennai – Leader of the Tamil language movement;
2. Shri Arun Javgal, Bengaluru – Leader of the ‘Hindi-Imposition- Resistance Movement’; And,
3. Dr. Pratap Naik, Goa – Konkani Linguist and Researcher.
Delegates representing various Konkani organizations from India and abroad, will be participating. All those interested are welcome to attend. The Seminar will begin with a short celebration of the 25 th anniversary of the inclusion of Konkani in the VIII th schedule which was on August 20. In the afternoon, the 6 th GlobalGeneral Assembly of JKS will meet and elect its new Executive Committee.
