Poor state of roads in Udupi causes concern

Sep 30, 2017: Councillors, cutting across party lines, vented their ire at the bad condition of roads, especially the Udupi-Manipal Road, at the general body meeting of the Udupi City Municipal Council at Udupi.

Ramesh Kanchan, councillor, said most of the roads in the city have potholes and that it’s difficult to drive on them.

Meenakshi Bannanje, CMC President, said as soon as the CMC receives grants from the government, all the roads in the city will be repaired. But any work could start only after the rain stops. Some patchwork has already been done on some roads, she said. Since the last couple of general body meetings saw chaotic scenes, the entire meeting on Thursday was videographed by the CMC.
