City advocates set to boycott court today, Oct 4.

Mangaluru, Oct 04, 2017: The Mangalore Bar Association, which met here on Oct 3, Tuesday, decided to stage a protest on the premises of the District Court here at 11 a.m. today, Oct 4.  Advocates here have decided to keep away from court proceedings on today Wednesday in protest against the transfer of High Court judge Jayant M. Patel.

A release from the association said that the Karnataka State Advocates Council, which has opposed the transfer, has called upon advocates to stay away from court proceedings. The association would respond to the call.

Dinakar Shetty, general secretary of the association, has in a release said that Justice Patel has resigned after the transfer. He was the second senior judge in the High Court. His transfer was unilateral and uncalled for on the eve of his retirement.
