Man in jail for hurting religious sentiments

Mangaluru, Oct 26, 2017 : The Kadaba police arrested Pradeep, 30, for alleged hurting the religious sentiments of Muslims by posting an image of a sacred place on his WhatsApp account.

A complaint was filed last week accusing Pradeep, an employee of a mobile phone shop, of hurting religious sentiments by posting the image of the sacred place in Mecca with a Hindu God above it. Muslim organisations had staged demonstrations demanding action.

The Kadaba police arrested Pradeep on Tuesday and produced him before the local Magistrate on Wednesday. The Magistrate remanded him in judicial custody till November 7, the police said.
