Government to confer Yakshagana awards in honor of Parthi Subba

Mangalore, Mar 22: B R Jayarama Raje Urs, the secretary of the Departments of Kannada and Culture and Information, informed journalists that the state government has instituted a Yakshagana award in honor of late Parthi Subba, widely acclaimed as the father of Yakshagana. 

Urs said that the annual award will comprise a purse of Rs 1 lakh and will be conferred on an outstanding Yakshagana artiste from 2010 - 11. 

He also said that the honorary award that is being conferred on Yakshagana artistes will be continued.
